A fourth generation professional photographer, Mike Marvins has traveled Big Bend with a backpack, by car and on horseback for over twenty years. Limited edition portfolios of his Big Bend photography have been acquired by major museums in Texas, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas in Austin. Marvins has recently compiled his extensive collection of photographs in the book Texas' Big Bend, the first comperhensive study of the Big Bend region. An ardent supporter of the Park, Marvins is donating his royalties to the Friends of Big Bend, a group that raises funds for improvement within the national park.
