| Susan Baker grew up on a ranch in Texas and spent her life in high political circles. After a disastrous first marriage, she blended her young family with that of the recently widowed James A. Baker III. As the Bakers worked to bring their five children together, his political career began to rise, bringing him into the sphere of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush and eventually to influential positions as Chief of Staff, Secretary of the Treasury and Secretary of State. Navigating the waters of big city Texas, Washington, D.C., and eventually the globe, Susan found that only her strong Christian faith enabled her to survive the constant unpredictable changes. Once she centered on this reality, she could reach out to others through the Parents Music Resource Center and the First Lady's Prayer Group, and to people of all faiths to coordinate an important multi-national, multi-religion prayer meeting in Jerusalem.
