Baxter Barrett Brown has a big bass fiddle, and he loves the big, low sounds it makes as he plays it all day long. Why can the fiddle not go with him on his every adventure of imagination? Oh! But it can! An adaptation here and there, and over the road they go. A rudder and an anchor, and just see the two set sail!

An age-old story of the deep bond of friendship between musicians and their instruments, this charming story is enhanced by the vivacious watercolors of Charles Shaw—and a CD of Baxter's "Bass Fiddle Tunes."

Playing bass with the Lubbock, Texas-based acoustic trio Blue Prairie, TIM MCKENZIE has opened for such artists as Asleep At The Wheel, Michael Martin Murphey and Jerry Jeff Walker and has entertained distinguished personalities including the governor of Texas and foreign diplomats, in Texas, across the United States, and in Europe. He has appeared on the PBS children's television series "Imagineland" that has aired in over 90 countries. By day, his work is in the Texas oil field, and he participates in music programs in Texas public schools. He lives in Shallowater, Texas, and he and his wife have three grown children.
